St.George's Opera Club has been an activity of this church since October 1996. The Club meets about three times a year, usually on a Wednesday, for a convivial evening when guests from the world of professional opera join us in in live performance illustrating a theme. A good meal with wine follows.  To date over 1500 diners have attended Opera Club evenings.  A poster appears followed by a sign-up sheet limited to about fifty names. 

Paul Sherrell created, and continues to animate the Opera Club. He has been a career professional singer from the age of eight when paid one shilling for a wedding, and smaller sums for services and choir practices. Whilst a student at The Royal Academy of Music he met Janet, a current churchwarden, singing for the University of London Operatic Society.
