Sunday School

Calling all children aged from about 3-4 up to 10-12... !!

Each Sunday morning during the main service at 10:30 we will be meeting in the library or clubroom to follow the theme of the Sunday’s readings at our own pace. We try to make Sunday School fun, a time to learn and a time to make friends with the other children. We have a wide range of resources to use but the core of our teaching is based on the "Living Stones" series of books by Susan Sayers. It does not matter if you come every week, once a month or only while you are visiting Paris on holiday. A warm welcome awaits you!

But there is more! We will also be offering more sessions of...

Godly Play

Godly Play has been developed by Jerome Berryman, during 40 years of work with children in the USA. This method of ‘presenting scripture stories to children’ is based upon his own understanding of the Montessori approach to education. Berryman regards himself as ‘fourth generation’ Montessori, following in the tradition of E.M. Standing and Sofia Cavalletti. Godly Play is a method of ‘showing’ Bible stories. It encourages ‘playing’ with the language of God. It is designed to help listeners to ‘enter the language to be more fully in God’s presence’ [‘The Complete Guide to Godly Play’ Volume 1 page 9].

For children below Sunday school age, a Crèche is available in the library just off the side chapel on a Sunday morning, offering a range of toys and books.

If you would like to use the crèche for your child, then we suggest you drop them off just before the service and pick them up in time for the Communion for a blessing, or at the end of the service. We do ask that children are collected no later than 11:50.

The crèche is supervised by one of two committed students, but we always welcome members of St. George's for help with standby for each Sunday. This does not involve your doing anything unless for some reason the student fails to turn up or there are too many toddlers for her to supervise, or the student needs to deal with one child in particular and requires someone to look after the others for a while.

Please contact one of the chaplains or Church Wardens if you are happy to help with this.
