We are now beginning the season of Advent. It is a time of
preparation for the great feast of the Incarnation at Christmas. The Church encourages us to use this time for a deepening of our prayer and faith. We are to be those wakened from the sleep of the
everyday: alert and waiting. We are to be those attentive to the great mystery of God’s love shown to us in the coming of our Saviour. We are called to be, like Mary who bore the Christ in her womb,
those who ponder these things in our hearts. For all these reasons we need to find some stillness in these next few weeks.
- Being faithful in our attendance at the Sunday Eucharist as the weeks to Christmas unfold.
- Making use of the weekday celebrations of the Eucharist to find a focus for our attention to the Christ who is born into this world.
- Finding time and place for prayer, whether at home or in one of the great churches of Paris, that stand open for our use each day.
- Using the literature provided on the bookstall or the readings in the lectionary to enter more fully in understanding the nature of the hope that is within
us.
You're warmly invited to join us for our traditional St
George's Carol Service on Sunday, 17th December 2023 at 18.00. As usual the service will be followed by mulled wine and mince pies.
